Why does Plads ask for my home folder?

Plads runs in Apple's App Sandbox, so it can only look in folders you grant. Your home folder holds most of what fills a Mac (Library, Downloads, Movies, developer data), so Plads asks for it once and remembers your choice.

You can add other folders or disks too, and remove access again at any time. To remove apps, also grant the Applications folder.

I cleaned up, so why isn't there more free space?

Plads moves things to the Trash, and they keep taking up space until the Trash is emptied. Plads shows how much the Trash holds and can open it for you. Empty it in Finder when you're sure.

Why do some folders say “Not measured”?

macOS protects other apps' data, such as Mail, Messages and the app containers in Library/Containers and Group Containers, and asks you about each app before anyone can look inside. Plads lists those folders but leaves them closed unless you turn on measuring other apps' data in Settings. macOS may then ask once per app.

Does Plads delete anything permanently?

No. Everything goes to the Trash, so you can put it back from there until you empty the Trash yourself.

Why don't I see the Apple Intelligence explanations?

They need macOS 26 or later with Apple Intelligence turned on in System Settings. They run on your Mac, and nothing is sent anywhere.

Without them, Plads still explains the roughly 50 folders in its own guide. For anything else it suggests a look in Finder before you delete it.

What does it cost?

$4.99, once. Every feature and every update is included, with no subscription, in-app purchases or ads.

What are the system requirements?

macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
