Privacy policy

In short: Plads collects no data about you, and it has no way to send any.

The app

Plads has no network access. The app doesn't have Apple's permission to use the network, so it cannot connect to the internet at all. There is no account, no analytics, no crash reporting, no ads and no tracking.

Plads runs in the App Sandbox and only looks in the folders you grant it in an Open dialog. It remembers those folders as bookmarks so it doesn't have to ask again. The bookmarks and your settings are stored locally on your Mac, in the app's own container.

The map, the explanations and the duplicate search are all worked out on your Mac. Explanations from Apple Intelligence run on the Mac too (macOS 26 with Apple Intelligence turned on).

When you remove something, Plads moves it to the Trash. Nothing is deleted until you empty the Trash yourself.

Keeping and deleting data

Remove a folder's access in Plads to drop its bookmark. Delete the app and the folder ~/Library/Containers/com.theill.plads, and everything Plads stored is gone. Peter Theill never had a copy.
